This year the Church celebrates the 40th anniversary of the controversial but prophetic document Humanae Vitae. This encyclical continues to emerge as an ever-new piece of evangelization because it speaks the truth about marriage and sexuality in an age of disillusionment. The majority of Catholics, upwards of 80% of those in the pews, follow the general cultural trend of contraception and yet this document articulates the strong teachings of the Church against contraception.
